Born Ita Okon Umoh(Real Name) “Epic” is singer, songwriter, performer, poet and Customs Officer. As a poet, some of Epic’s poems had been published in some national dailies. In 2014, when Nigeria celebrated her Centenary, some of his poems were amongst the entries published in an anthology entitled: Footmark: Poems on Hundred Years of Nigeria’s Nationhood.
Music, for Epic, is an undying passion which he will take to the grave. He draws his musical interest from so many influences, particularly from Bob Marley and the Wailers, Peter Tosh, Coco Tea, Buju Banton, Shaggy, Shabba Ranks, Asward, 2pac and the host of others.
Listening to these great music icons, over the years, has helped Epic to nurture and fashion his own style, which is rooted in dancehall reggae.
Driven by a burning desire to showcase his talent, Epic started his first studio recording in the early nineties, 1992, to be precise. And the first song of the attempt was entitled, Abortion, produced at Link Studio, Adeniran Ogunsanya, Surulere, by Yomi Omidiran, the younger brother to Jide Omidiran, the producer of the soundtrack for SuperStory, a Wale Adenuga’s Production. Klink studio was home for Blackky, Esse Agesse and the rest. Since this attempt, Epic has not looked back in his desire to be heard, as he keeps recording songs upon songs without being discouraged.

Although Epic’s determined efforts, over the years, did not see the light of day coupled with the nomadic nature of his official assignment, he was undeterred in his passion to create his own sound. Yet, he stayed true to his game with his eyes fixed on the bigger picture.
His sound started to fuse into what he has been desirous of when Capstone introduces him Slopy Kickx, a multitalented audio/video producer. Slopy Kickx it is who has been to understand Epic’s personality and create his style. The contact with Slopy Kickx marks the beginning of the end of his endless style.
Today, Epic’s first single, LATEST, is demonstration of his dancehall style. It is a song that expresses his personality, his dogged quest for uniqueness. In LATEST, you know can quantify the quality of production, the lyrics and mixing. Enjoy it!
